How these numbers work
- What's covered
- The 75 BYU-Idaho approved complexes listed in BYU-I's housing search. Community (non-approved) housing is priced by the month, usually without utilities, so it isn't mixed in here.
- Starting rent
- A complex's cheapest floor plan for the semester, usually a shared room. We use medians, so one very cheap or very expensive complex doesn't move the number much.
- Rent vs. last year
- Each complex is compared with its own rent on BYU-I's September 2025 housing list, and the chart shows the median of those changes. Comparing a complex with itself means new listings don't change the trend. Only Fall and Winter prices count, since Spring is usually cheaper.
- Open rooms
- BYU-I doesn't publish how many beds are left, only whether a complex has any open for a semester, separately for men and women at complexes that house both. A complex that houses both counts in each line.
